When 9-year-old Nate Winkler and his older brothers were given the opportunity by their parents, Tony and Jeni Winkler of Baltimore, Ohio, to share with others less fortunate, Nate knew exactly what he wanted to do. You see Nate is a big animal lover and has done a bit of rescuing of his own in his young life.
But instead of just sending a check or donating online, Nate wanted to actually go see where his gift was going. After hearing good things about Pets Wihtout Parents, he knew that this was the place to help.
Nate and his Mom and Dad were greeted by Meg Long, the very busy Volunteer coordinator and given a tour of their facility. She was so excited and amazed at the generosity of this 9 year old boy. Not only did he give them $100 towards whatever they felt would be most helpful, but Nate and Mom also shopped for and brought a basketfull of items that were posted on the Pets Without Parent’s Wish List. And the staff got something too! Little pet chocolate cookies for them to enjoy while they give their time and love to care for the dogs, cats and other animals.
And that’s not all! When Puppy Scents and Don and Mindy Kaleta heard of Nate’s project, they wanted to help as well. Don and Mindy Kaleta donated five copies of Puppy Scents, signed by Don Kaleta and Nate, to be given away as a free gift to families with kids who Adopt-A-Pup! Afterall, this is just what Puppy Scents is all about!
Roc’s Mision is simply this:
“Creating forever friendships between kids and pups
so that no more dogs have to be alone, scared or homeless.”
Puppy Scents is so proud of Nate and his family for being so generous and compassionate towards our furry friends! Great job Nate!
We want to encourage all kids to make a difference as Nate has and visit a local shelter or rescue to see how they can help!
